Sample itinerary for Washington D.C. trips

DAY 1

  • Head up to the roof of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for one of the best panoramic views in town.
  • Walk around the White House, the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States.
  • Embark on the first part of your tour of the monuments to see the Jefferson Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt monument and the larger-than-life Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

DAY 2

  • Visit the stunning Arlington National Cemetery and put U.S. History into perspective.
  • Learn about the development of humans and animals from the earliest times to now at the National Museum of Natural History.
  • Visit the wide range of exhibits and collections of U.S. history and pop culture of the National Museum of American History.
  • Head out for the second part of your tour of the monuments to see, the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Reflecting Pool and World War II Memorial.

DAY 3

  • Be amazed as you visit the home of the former leader of the United States of America at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.
  • Learn about the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and the Statue of Freedom on an orientation walk around Capitol Hill.
  • See the Spirit of St. Louis, in which Charles Lindbergh made the first solo flight over the Atlantic, at the National Air and Space Museum.
  • Why not end the evening with a Nationals baseball game or a performance at the Kennedy Center?

DAY 4

  • Check out the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover Building, the US Navy Memorial, and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on a walk along Pennsylvania Avenue.
  • Time for reflection and introspection on your visit of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
  • Head out for some free time in Georgetown, a place where history and modernity jell at their best.
  • With your heads and hearts filled with new memories, time to hop aboard and begin the drive back home.
