Sample itinerary for Rome, Naples & Amalfi Coast trips

DAY 1 · DEPARTURE 

  • Meet with your group at your local airport and take off aboard your overnight flight to Italy. 

DAY 2 · ROME

  • Arrive in Rome and meet your Tour Director—it’s time to begin your trip! 
  • Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city to catch a glimpse of the marvels of la Città Eterna and enjoy some free time in the area of your choice. 
  • Have dinner at a lovely local restaurant before settling into your rooms for the night.

DAY 3 · ROME

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Travel back to the days of the gladiators during a visit to the famous Colosseum with a local tour guide. Explore the imperial palaces and admire the breathtaking view of the Circus Maximus from the top of Palatine Hill.
  • Visit the catacombs of St. Callixtus, among the greatest and most important in Rome. Enjoy your guided visit, and don’t get lost in this network of galleries, approximately 12 miles long! Here, tens of martyrs, 16 popes, and many Christians were buried.
  • Have dinner at a lovely local restaurant and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 4 · ROME

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director. 
  • Head to the Vatican! See one of the world's greatest art collections and learn about the history of the Vatican and the Catholic Church on your half-day guided visit through a series of palaces, apartments, and galleries leading to the Sistine Chapel.
  • Discover St. Peter’s Basilica, a creation involving many great architects of the Renaissance.
  • Flour, water, and salt—here are the basic ingredients of one of Italy’s most famous dishes: pizza! Dive into local gastronomy during a pizza-making workshop, where you'll learn everything from choosing local products to cooking tricks!
  • Discover the Trastevere district with your Tour Director, one of the most typical and charming neighbourhoods of Rome. Stroll through its winding, cobblestone streets, admire the Santa Maria in Trastevere basilica, climb up to the Janiculum terrace, or find treasures in the flea market.
  • Have dinner at a lovely local restaurant and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 5 · NAPLES 

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Discover the Royal Palace of Caserta, commonly called "The Italian Versailles." Former residence of the Bourbon dynasty of Naples, the palace offers a trip back to the 18th century, a time of luxury and grandeur in Italy.
  • Discover the birthplace of Neapolitan pizza on a guided tour of Naples. Walk the vibrant streets of Spaccanopoli and uncover the city’s secrets on a fascinating underground tour.
  • Have dinner at a lovely local restaurant and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 6 · NAPLES - SORRENTO 

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Visit the Villa at Oplontis, located in the modern town of Torre Annunziata near Naples. This vast villa complex is believed to have belonged to Poppaea Sabina, the wife of Emperor Nero.
  • Enjoy a full afternoon of free time in Sorrento. Take the opportunity to enjoy the sea air and do some souvenir shopping in this picturesque seaside town.
  • Have dinner at a local restaurant and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 7 · POMPEII - SORRENTO 

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Enjoy breathtaking views from the crater and experience the awe-inspiring power of Mount Vesuvius on a mesmerizing hike.
  • Discover the Pompeii archaeological site. Explore the ruins of Pompeii, preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
  • Spend the evening exploring Sorrento with your group. Have dinner at a nearby restaurant and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 8 · AMALFI COAST - SORRENTO 

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Head on a boat trip to the Amalfi Coast to discover the unique beauty and character of Amalfi’s seaside villages, from Positano’s colourful cliffs to Ravello’s stunning views.
  • Discover the picturesque village of Amalfi with a visit to the impressive Cathedral of Saint Andrew, as well as the historic centre of this small city with Spanish allure.
  • Possibility of heading to Capri to explore the dramatic Blue Grotto, roam its charming streets, and enjoy breathtaking views from the island’s rugged cliffs.
  • Return to Sorrento at the end of the day for dinner and a good night’s rest.

DAY 9 · ROME

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • Visit the ancient city of Paestum to see the ancient temples dedicated to Hera, Neptune, and Athena.
  • Tour a local buffalo farm to see the process of mozzarella production before heading back to Rome.
  • Enjoy your final dinner in Rome and head to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 10 · ROME - DEPARTURE

  • Breakfast and orientation session at the hotel with your Tour Director.  
  • With your head and luggage full of memories, make your way to Roma Airport to catch your flight home. Ciao Italia!
