SERVICE-LEARNING TRIPS TO PERU

Get ready to discover the impressive Andes, the rich history and culture of the Incas, and Machu Picchu, one of Seven Wonders of the Modern World, nonetheless! Plus, with an added value of making this a service-learning trip, your students will be working with locals on community projects and practicing their Spanish at the same time!  Sample itinerary for Peru Service  · Learning trips

DAY 1

  • Catch your flight to Lima, the capital of magnificent Peru. 
  • Meet with your tour leader at the airport and head to Lima to settle in for the night.  

DAY 2

  • Explore one of the most vibrant cities in South America, Lima! Discover the main landmarks of the capital, a place of converging trends where tradition and modernity coexist.
  • Visit the Government Palace, City Hall, The Cathedral of Lima, the district of Miraflores and San Isidro, the Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology, and much more!

DAY 3

  • Take off aboard your domestic day flight to Cuzco, the archaeological capital of the Americas, and the oldest city on the continent!
  • Welcome to the Inca capital of Cuzco. Follow your guide to discover all the city's incredible secrets as you stroll through its charming streets and enjoy some time to explore on your own.

DAYS 4 TO 6

  • Make way to the Sacred Valley, a majestic valley in the Andes.
  • Meet your local coordinator who will give you details on your local community project. The missions are defined according to the needs of the community to help solve a collective need, such as the construction of a road, agricultural activities, reforestation, and more. 
  • It is a total immersion experience! Learn about the routines, values, and traditions of the community while practicing your Spanish like never before with the local community!

DAY 7

  • It's already time to say goodbye to your new friends and continue on to your next adventure of the trip.
  • Take the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
  • Climb the steep stairs to Intipunku, better known as "The Gate of the Sun", for a breathtaking aerial view of Machu Picchu below! 

DAY 8

  • Let's unveil the secrets of mythical Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. The archaeological site, located at an altitude of 2430 meters, symbolizes the incredible technical skill and productivity of the golden age of the Inca Empire. The site still keeps many secrets today, including its true function, and date of its creation...

  • What an emotion-packed day! Time to depart for Cuzco for the evening.

DAY 9

  • Pack up! It's time to take your domestic day flight back to Lima where you'll be able to enjoy some free time to get those last-minute souvenirs.

DAY 10

  • Meet with your driver, load your luggage onto the motorcoach and head off to the airport to check in for your flight.
  • Say goodbye to your tour leader as you board your flight home with memories to cherish for life.
